Harvest of Time update

PDF proofs of Harvest of Time have arrived, meaning that the book is now all but nailed down. UK publication is June, so only a few months away. Here's the back cover copy, to give you a hint of the story:

After billions of years of imprisonment, the vicious Sild have broken out of confinement. From a ruined world at the end of time, they make preparations to conquer the past, with the ultimate goal of rewriting history. But to achieve their aims they will need to enslave an intellect greater than their own...

On Earth, UNIT is called in to investigate a mysterious incident on a North Sea drilling platform. The Doctor believes something is afoot, and no sooner has the investigation begun when something even stranger takes hold: The Brigadier is starting to forget about UNIT's highest-profile prisoner. And he is not alone in his amnesia.

As the Sild invasion begins, the Doctor faces a terrible dilemma. To save the universe, he must save his arch-nemesis... The Master.

  3. Haven't read any of the Who fiction yet (catching up on all the classic serials at the moment), so this might be the first one I want to pick up. Will I be able to follow it, not knowing who the Sild are? Or are there some serials I should check out first?

  4. Hi Iradonian - you shouldn't have too much trouble following it. The Sild are my invention and I've (hopefully) written the book so that no particular knowledge of the Who universe is needed.

  5. I just wish they had asked you to write the TV series using your particular style of seriousness and darkness...and that the BBC had had the courage to go with a post-watershed time slot.

I watched about 10 minutes of the first episode of the re-incarnation and gave up after that, not being 12 years old!

  6. Looks like you have thrown together all of the right elements for a great classic DR WHO adventure. I'm really looking forward to it. Did you enjoy writing in an established universe? As opposed to one of your own like Rev space or BRE.
